P. Chidambaram's arrest and high voltage drama

Remember the date, 21st August 2019, well if you won't but Chidambaram Saheb is surely going to remember!

After 27 hrs of lookout, the government agency, CBI, was successful in arresting P. Chidambaram from his residence with the help of Delhi police.

On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court refused the bail of P. Chidambaram following which the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) came into action to arrest the former Finance Minister.

Since then P. Chidambaram disappeared from his residence and switched of his phone avoiding the agencies. Both the agencies visited his residence twice in his absence and even enquired his whereabout from his dear ones. On Wednesday evening, P. Chidambaram came to Congress HQ out of nowhere and defended himself.

Former Minister, said that lies had been spread by pathological liars. Neither him nor any of his family members are accused in the INX Media case. He was in shock that he had been accused of running away from the race of justice. He added that he would respect the law even if it is in unequal measures.

Around 8 P.M. the team of CBI reached P. Chidambaram's Jor Bagh residence and called out on the gate. Upon hearing no response they tried to force themselves inside but met with backlash of Congress Party workers. The CBI team decided to call out help from Delhi Police. Then after that they climbed and scaled the under-construction wall to reach inside premises.

During this time, it was reported from the source that some Congress Party workers came face to face with BJP workers near the scene.

After an hour the team of CBI arrested P. Chidambaram and escorted him to CBI HQ with the help of Delhi Police.

P. Chidambaram's son Karti interacted with the media and condemned such action and said Drama enacted for voyeuristic pleasure of some. This is a total political witch-hunt.

During this time senior Congress leader, Salman Khurshid was reported saying that if the CBI knew Chidambaram was in the house then they could have waited for him to response, than to make such a nuisance along with media.

P. Chidambaram stayed in CBI HQ the whole night and is expected to appear in the court today.

Many Senior leaders condemned such behaviour of government agencies and blamed the Centre government of malfunctioning the agencies and persuing vendetta politics.

P. Chidambaram and his link to INX case

The INX Media case shows how the Foreign Investment Promotion Board was used to give clearance to the media group to receiving foreign funds to the tune of Rs. 307 crore, during the time when P. Chidambaram was Finance Minister of India. The C.B.I. had registered an FIR on May 2017, alleging about the irregularities in FIPB clearance. The ED too lodged a money laundering case in the year 2018. Indrani Mukerjea and Peter Mukerjea were the co-founders of INX Media.
